You can rest assured that for every tree that we fell, we plant three in its place, which will be ready to be harvested in around 8 – 10 years’ time. We also only use trees for our Kiln Dried Softwood Logs that are grown in Cornwall, so you know that by purchasing logs from us, you are supporting the Cornish community.
We are also a proud member of the ‘Made in Cornwall’ scheme which showcases the best of Cornish-made products and we think is a good representation of our reputation within the industry.
More about our Softwood
The softwood we use for our Kiln Dried Softwood Logs are mainly ‘Larch’. Larch being one of the densest softwood around making it ideal for producing a long burn. Once we have kiln dried the logs, we are confident that we have produced the best Softwood Kiln Dried Logs available in Cornwall, if not the country.
Why you should never burn wet wood
Burning Wet Logs may appear cheaper but can be very harmful to your Fireplace and Chimney. If you burn a wet log, you’re basically burning off the water contained in the log before the log can light properly. This can leave heavy residue (Tar) in your Flue, Chimney and Appliance that can build up to dangerous levels over time. Inevitably resulting in chimney/flue fires in your home.
The Kiln Drying Process
Our Kiln Dried Softwood Logs are dried to Approximately 20%. This enables them to light quickly and give off an incredible amount of heat. Burning Kiln Dried Softwood Logs will save you money because you will be burning less wood, filling your appliance less frequently and producing more heat per log over cheaper alternatives. It will also help to keep your Stove Glass, Chimney and Flue system free from tar build-up.
