Kiln Dried Hardwood Logs
Logan’s Kiln Dried Hardwood Logs are conveniently stacked into nets for your convenience. Each of our nets can contain between Eleven to Fourteen logs depending on the log size or thickness, which can vary depending on which Hardwoods we have coming into our processing yard.
Our Kiln Dried Hardwood Logs are available in: 8 Inch.
Our Cornish Kiln Dried Hardwood is grown and felled from large estates within Cornwall. All our hardwood is also sustainably sourced. Currently, we are felling a huge surplus of hardwood that is aiding the clearing of overgrown land and hedge rows on these estates. Normally, this would have been used up by the production of wood products such as tools, boats and buildings etc. Unfortunately, due to cheaper wood products being imported into the country, we have a large surplus of Hardwoods that needs to be cleared before more planting can be done.
We can assure you that once this surplus hardwood is cleared, more trees will be planted, ensuring future sustainability of our forests in Cornwall.
Logan’s is a proud member of the ‘Made in Cornwall’ scheme which showcases the best of Cornish-made products and we think is a good representation of our reputation within the industry.
More about our Hardwood
The Kiln Dried Hardwood Logs can contain a mixture of different hardwoods that varies from net to net. Depending on what wood is being cut in our local forests, the nets can contain a mixture of Ash, Beech, Birch, Cherry and Oak.
Why you should never burn wet wood
Burning Wet Logs may appear cheaper but can be very harmful to your Fireplace and Chimney. If you burn a wet log, you’re basically burning off the water contained in the log before the log can light properly. This can leave heavy residue (Tar) in your Flue, Chimney and Appliance that can build up to dangerous levels over time. Inevitably resulting in chimney/flue fires in your home.
The Kiln Drying Process
Our Kiln Dried Hardwood Logs are dried to approx. 15%. This enables them to light quickly and give off an incredible amount of heat. Burning Kiln Dried Hardwood Logs will save you money because you will be burning less wood, filling your appliance less frequently and producing more heat per log over cheaper alternatives. It will also help to keep your Stove Glass, Chimney and Flue system free from tar build-up.
